Technology Consultant – R&D Operations (Contract)

ARCA is working on behalf of a global pharmaceutical leader to appoint an experienced Technology Consultant to join their UK R&D Operations leadership team. This is a high-impact role focused on delivering technology transformation across product development, IT systems, and R&D plant operations.

You’ll lead complex, cross-functional projects—from digital systems integration to process validation—ensuring alignment between business requirements and tech solutions. Ideal for a strategic thinker with strong technical leadership in biotech or pharma environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and optimise business processes to support R&D operations
• Lead delivery of IT and engineering solutions from concept to implementation
• Oversee pilot plant logistics, technical validation and scale-up activities
• Manage cross-functional project teams and vendors
• Define and execute project plans, budgets, and stakeholder engagement strategies
• Drive compliance, change control, and system validation processes
• Provide expert guidance across tech transfer, manufacturing, and quality systems
• Build strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

• MA/PhD in Life Sciences, IT or Engineering
• 10+ years in biotech/pharma, including R&D project leadership
• Proven track record in tech evaluation and deployment
• 5+ years in IT delivery across multiple domains
• Deep understanding of system validation and regulatory compliance
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
• PMP certification and pharmaceutical/clinical operations experience highly desirable
